Mini Gala | Final Info

Sunday 16th

Swimmers - bring £1 and give the bunny a name.

The winning name will be drawn at the end of the gala and the winner will get to take the bunny (and egg) home.

Arrival- 1.30pm to 1.45pm.

Please enter via the door marked Ponteland High School and wait in the library area until called by a Morpeth ASC volunteer who will direct you to the changing rooms.

Warm up is at 2pm

There will be a volunteer at the changing room doors to sign in swimmers.

Parents/Carers are not allowed in the changing rooms unless their swimmer is under 8yrs.

Once changed, swimmers will be directed to poolside and to where they will be seated for the gala.

Swimmers must have with them a towel, water bottle, MASC swim hat, poolside top/T-shirt to wear on poolside and goggles (it is good practice to have a spare hat and goggles as this is essential when they progress to licenced meets in the future).

Events - 25m Butterfly, Backstroke, Breaststroke & Freestyle for age groups 9yrs & under and10yrs (age as at 31st December)

50m Butterfly, Backstroke, Breaststroke & Freestyle for age group 11yrs and 12yrs & over (age as at 31st December)

All events are heat declared winners - this means there are no finals, the winner is the swimmer with the fastest time in their age group/sex regardless if the swimmer swam in the first heat or last heat.

Medals will be presented to the fastest 6 boy/girl swimmers in each age group.

Disqualification frequently happens in swimming. Even the best swimmers get disqualified from time to time. Please see this as a chance for your swimmer to improve.

We understand that this is the first competition for many of our younger swimmers. The only expectation is that they try their best and enjoy the event.

At the end of the gala, please wait outside the changing room until your swimmer is signed out. You can enter the changing rooms if your swimmer is under 8yrs but you must let the changing room volunteer know when you leave so we can sign out your child.

We aim to finish by 4pm

Spectators - please queue at the entrance to the first floor spectating area until we are ready to open the doors.

There will be a small charge for spectating: £3- Adults, no charge for children.

A programme will be available on the club website on the day.

Volunteers - please meet in the downstairs viewing gallery

Allergies: Peanuts are not allowed in changing rooms or on poolside to help protect our swimmers who have an allergy.
